Job Description:

Senior Database Administrator

Hours: Monday-Friday: 8:00am- 5:00pm

Job Summary/Purpose:

The Sr. Database Administrator (Sr. DBA) is responsible for administering, supporting, designing and assisting in the implementation of new and existing systems, middleware, data interface engines, data conversions, and data architectures.  This includes maintaining legacy system databases and assisting in the migration to new systems.  He/ she will develop and manage the database transition plans to ensure accuracy throughout the conversion.  In addition, this position is expected to identify and promote best practices for database setup, security, data modeling, data conversions, and data interfaces.  This includes providing oversight for all activities related to data cleansing, data quality, and data architecture, utilizing standard methodologies and processes.  This position may participate in on-call rotation that requires after-hours support and may also adjust work hours to perform maintenance tasks at times least impactful to customers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops, maintains and improves standards, processes, architectural maps and tools to accomplish: the mapping of data resources, the profiling of data, the documentation of data architecture and movement, the design of the data movement through the enterprise, and the definition of integrative views of data for analytic purposes.
  • Develops and maintains documentation for various processes they are responsible for: logical processes, hardware and operating system environments, dependencies on other systems, internal and external checks/ controls, and security.
  • Provides technical support for existing databases and legacy systems through complete life cycle; Maintain and respond to trouble tickets.
  • Keeps abreast of emerging technologies relative to data architecture development efforts.Recommends technologies that increase cost effectiveness, maintain quality standards, and promote data architecture flexibility and design integrity.Develops and provides oversight on implementation of all data interfaces and conversions within end-to-end integrated systems.
  • Cross train and support other team members.Develops standard operating procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Information or equivalent experience in the appropriate fields is required.
  • 5+ years of IT experience, primarily within the areas of data management, database management/ conversions, and/or database development, architecture, administration required.
  • IT experience within a multi-facility healthcare organization is preferred.
  • Subject matter expert in Microsoft SQL Server technologies, all versions and supported in standalone/clustered/physical/virtualized environments
  • Knowledge in SSIS, SSRS
  • Oracle, Sybase, Intersystems CACHEknowledge a plus
  • Familiarity with applicable data privacy laws and practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess a strong business perspective in order to convey technology concepts and solutions that will satisfy the business requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership including previous performance as a highly effective team member and team leader.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal direction to prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Team-building and mentoring of others.
